On September 1, 2026, Felix (Felix Pago), the Miami-based fintech serving Latino immigrants over WhatsApp, announced a $200 million Series C co-led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and General Catalyst. The company, which started as a remittances platform, is using the capital to build what it calls a "Cognitive Financial Companion" — a natural-language AI assistant connecting its users to financial products beyond sending money.
According to Crunchbase News and Refresh Miami, a16z led an $87 million equity investment with participation from QED Investors, Castle Island Ventures, Switch Ventures, Contour Venture Partners, and Endeavor Catalyst, while General Catalyst's Customer Value Fund contributed $113 million in debt. Founded in 2020 by Manuel Godoy and Bernardo García, Felix has now raised close to $300 million total. The round values the company at roughly $1.4 billion, nearly triple its prior valuation of $484.5 million after its Series B.
According to PYMNTS and Finextra, Felix plans to expand beyond remittances into loans and savings, all within the same WhatsApp interface its users already use daily. The centerpiece of this expansion is a conversational assistant designed to understand the customer's needs in everyday language and connect them with the relevant financial product — a loan, savings, or a transfer — without requiring the user to navigate a traditional banking app.
Remittances are a structural part of the economy in several countries in the region, including Guatemala, and WhatsApp is already the dominant communication channel between the diaspora and their families back home. What validates this round isn't just investor appetite for Latin American fintech, but a specific product pattern: conversational AI running directly on top of WhatsApp, not a proprietary app, as the access layer for complex financial services aimed at an audience that prefers messaging over forms.
